RAWANG, 3 Nov 2009 : Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes if they are heading to Rawang from Kuala Lumpur following a landslide which occurred early Tuesday morning near Templer's Park.
Officials have advised that they use the Middle Ring Road 2 and PLUS Highway to avoid the landslide area at Km13 of Jalan Ipoh.
No casualties have been reported in the 2.45am incident.
Clean up work is currently being carried out by the Selayang Municipal Council, Fire and Rescue Department and 991 personnel.
Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor who visited the site, told reporters that the road which caters to 80,000 vehicles daily, would hopefully be re-opened by 7am on Wednesday.
He said he would get the relevant department to check on the area as there was development taking place at the top of the slope.
“We need to check whether this is one of the contributing factors,” he said.
He added it was the developer’s responsibility to ensure that the slope was safe while work was being carried out.
